A Very Special 200th Anniversary

22nd - 25th April 2023

The Swan family extends a warm invitation

to all descendants of John and Mary Swan,

who arrived in Hobart from London on 25th of April 1823,

to a 200th aniversary celebration in Hobart in April 2023.

Important Dates

Events are planned over four days, essentially to accommodate families with children starting a new school term on Monday 24th while also celebrating the 200th anniversary on 25th April. There is a summary below.

Saturday 22nd April – King’s Domain (Hobart)

The grand event - a big family lunch party for all ages.

Sunday 23rd April - Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania in Sandy Bay (Hobart)

Afternoon tea with historical displays.

Monday 24th April – Campbell Town / Hobart

Garden picnic at Howley Lodge at Campbell Town. A chance for visitors and Southerners to meet Northern cousins.

Also a self-guided tour of historic Swan places around Hobart. Map provided.

Tuesday 25th April – The 200th Anniversary - Anzac Day (Bagdad and Hobart)

Dawn service at Bagdad where a family member will deliver an address on behalf of the Swan family.

 Later in the morning all invited to visit Rosewood the original John Swan land grant.

Last up, a “Swansong” pub lunch in Hobart.
